The Gillard Family photographs collection is comprised of 51 photographic prints, one unbound photograph album, and assorted printed ephemera concerning the Gillard Family. The Gillard family emigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom in 1907, settling in Portland, Oregon. The collection includes images of the family's patriach, Thomas Gillard and his wife, Catherine Jane (Craine) Gillard, as well as their sons, Frank Gilliard, Thomas Walter Gillard, John Gillard, and George Gillard. A large portion of the collection consists of images of Frank Gillard and his wife, Helen (Gehrett) Gillard; the Gillards are shown at Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation events such as the christening of the SS Carl Schurz, and a photograph album made by Helen Gillard documents her early life. The collection additionally includes images of Helen Gillard's parents Alfred and Mary Gehrett. Printed ephemera in the collection includes a family history written by the elder Thomas Gillard and a transcript of a journal kept by Frank Gillard while he was at sea during World War I. The collection is partially processed, and the photographers are unidentified.
